Verance v. Digimarc

November 8, 2001 | Posted by Contributor | Print this page
Verance filed a lawsuit in federal district court charging Digimarc with violating antitrust and unfair competition laws. Among other things, Verance alleges that Digimarc illegally submitted Verance's digital watermarking technology to the Video Watermarking Group (VWM), a standards-setting body. Verance said that it had informed VWM that it would not allow its digitial watermarking patents to be used in the standard, pending the resolution of another patent infringement lawsuit with Digimarc concerning the same technology.
