The Entertainment Software Association says that video game revenues contributed about $3.8 billion to the nation's gross domestic product in 2006. According to market research firm NPD Group, in 1998, nationwide traditional game sales were roughly $314 million; last year, they grew to $802.2 million, an increase of 13 percent over 2005.
